Alex made it to Switzerland :)
He flew out of Phoenix at 8:56am on Saturday morning, had a 2 hour layover in Washington D.C. adn then flew out of D.C. at 6:00pm, and arrived in Zurich Switzerland at 8:25am(on Sunday)., which was 11:25pm(on saturday) here in Flagstaff. So, he pretty much got into Switzerland when he is going to bed here. I talked to him for a little while when he got in and he said he was going to take a shower and then take a nap. Turns out, he took a bath, layed down, and slept just about as much as I did. hahaha. He didn't do much today because he was exhausted and his co-worker was not intown yet. I think he watched some gymnastics, fencing, handball and Back to the Future, haha.
Tomorrow him and Sean (his co-worker), who is from Ireland, will hopefully go scope out Zurich. They can't meet with their client until the afternoon, if at all, so they will have some time to hang out tomorrow. :)
Unfortunately it was cloudyand foggy today so he couldn't see the Alps, hopefully it clears up this week before he leaves!!
As for me, Lastnight after I got off of work, I went shopping for a little bit, got some frozen yogurt, popped some popcorn and watched 2 episodes of Say Yes to the Dress and Rent :) It was a FANTASTIC night! haha.
Today, I watched some more Chick Flicks, Disney Movies, did some homework, Pilates, Took a Bubble Bath, and hung out with my Roomies! I'd say it was a successfully realxing day!
I'm missing Alex A TON, so it is nice to be able to talk to him a little bit and have plenty of stuff to occupy my time!
Speakin of which, I have a mid-term tomorrow, so I should probably get back to studying :( It is discouraging though when I talk to my Nebraska friends who are all on Fall Break, we don't get a fall break :( booo!!! Guess we will just be smarter, huh? :)

Well Hello!!!
These past few weeks have been busy, but extremely fun!
Last week, Alex's parents came to Arizona to check up on their house and meet with people to get it fixed up. Alex and I went down to Anthem on Saturday to do some shopping and to have dinner at Applebee's ( we do not have an Applebee's here, so it was awesome to finally have it )...We headed to their house after that. Alex and I both really liked the house. It will be fun to see all the changes and progress on the house. Sunday we went for a walk to the Clubhouse and then walked the golf course back to their house. It was VERY hot! Alex and I have not been keeping up with our Wednesday, Saturday workouts for him so it was a bit of a struggle :) haha. That afternoon we hung out at the pool for a few hours and then we had to head back to Flagstaff :( I think we got a little too used to the hot weather while we were down there, when we got back and it was 48 degrees, we were shivvering! We both just had 3 day work weeks that week, and then we headed back down to Anthem before we flew to Nebraska.
My dad turned 60 this past Saturday. SO, My sister Rachael, Brother-in-law Dan, Niece Lupita, Alex and I decided to surprise my family by going home for Dad's Birthday. Alex and I flew out of Phoenix Thursday morning and met Rachael in Denver around 3:00pm. From there we had a long trip to Gothenburg to surprise my dad and sister. They were EXTREMELY excited to see us. Ann didn't stop jumping for about 5 minutes and Dad was pretty much speechless. Throughout the day, more and more of my family showed up and were happy to see us. The whole weekend was full of family, friends and fun.
I definitely miss my family already and cannot wait until Christmas when I will get to see them again. These past few weekends have been some of the best weekends since we moved out. It was great to see family and get out of Flag for a little bit.
Back to the grind this week!!! :(
Alex flies out to Switzerland this weekend and will be gone for about a week or so. He doesn't get much down time in the next couple months, so having a long Christmas Vacation will be much needed for him. Tonight he worked until 6 on a machine that they still cannot get working :( Not a very good feeling for him. But, I'm sure he will get it figured out :) They love having him there at MSI to be a problem solver.
I have lots of tests this week and next week, which is not very fun, but I'll make it through :)

Switzerland!

Alex has some big news from MSI. :D
Like I said in my last blog, he got a bunch of new projects, so the one he is working on now, someone else will take over and he will start on these new ones.
With that, he found out today that he gets to go to Switzerland the week of October 10th.
I am QUITE Jealous of him!!! He will be there for 2 or 3 days seeing how a machine installation works. He is kind of surprised that they would send him so far to see how an installation works, but apparently the guys working there are really nice and the ones in the two other possible places aren't as nice and would "tear him apart," so he gets to see an awesome place and have a great experience :)
THEN, a couple weeks after he gets back from Switzerland, he will get to go to Minnesota to work on another installation. He asked if he would be traveling this much, or if it was just to get orientated, and his boss, Jake said he won't be traveling near this much in the future-so it is really cool that he gets to now!
He's been working there for 2 months and they already sent him to Salt Lake City, have plans for Switzerland and Minnesota- I'd say its a pretty great job :)
He is doing really well and the people at MSI really like him and appreciate that he is able to learn quickly and does a good job!
And, since its mostly his family that looks at our blog....Way to Go!! :) You raised a good one :)
This week for me is going pretty well. Starting to get a little bit of a cold, which isn't very fun, but I haven't been working as much, so it is nice to have all day and night to do homework and hang out with the roomies :)
They are fun girls, definitely loud and outgoing, but there is always some story to be told or something to laugh about, which is really fun!
Classes are going well, missing Summer a little though!
I think that is all the news I have to share for now! TTFN

Sunday, September 11, 2011

Hahaha, so obviously I was a little tired when I wrote my last blog.
*Correction: Alex got put incharge of a bunch of projects from another employee who is ill. He may be traveling to *Japan and *Ireland. lol.
Very much looking forward to this week. I am only working Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and then Saturday 8 to 3. I have lots of homework to catch up on, and clearly need some more sleep.!
This weekend was great though. Worked at a new house. All the ladies were pretty great. They are non-verbal, but they definitely have their own way of communicating and getting their point across. :)
Back to the grind of work and school tomorrow.
Today was good, very relaxing. Watched some Horton Hears a Who, and Madagascar 2, took a nap, played some games with Alex and did some homework.
Alex's Salt Lake City trip was good. He said the flight out there was really smooth, but coming back it was a bit shakier. There was a bad storm brewing here in Flag when they were flying- there was so much hail that it looked like snow, I will add a picture of that, but yeah, pretty crazy. They thought they were going to have to go somewhere else until the storm passed, but there happened to be a hole right over the airport so they were able to land safely around 5:30pm.
Alex said he had fun and it was a good experience. He will probably get to go back pretty soon after he gets done with the programming that needs adjusted on the machine, so that will be neat.
Just another great week this week!

Hi!
This is going to be kind of a short blog, more to come later, but I just wanted to update you all on whats been happening. I survived my first week at NAU. It is MUCH larger than UNO, which I like but was not expecting. There are tons of students all over the place, which is really cool- I just need to figure out a way to become friends with all of them- lol. JUST KIDDING :)
There are some awesome people in one of my social work classes so I think a few friendships will come from that, which is awesome to think about! My roommates are good! Weird that the closest one to me in age is 20 and I'm 22. haha. But, we are all very young, loud, lively women, so it makes life fun, for sure. When I am around here at least....
I have been working a lot of hours with Hozhoni. Most early mornings and evenings I am working at a house, which is great, but definitely starting to get burnt out. This past saturday I worked at 13 hour shift and this saturday i'm working 12 hours. I'm ready for a break :) haha.
The people are great though! Had my first experience with an "incident" at 6:00 this morning. Definitely got the adrenaline running, but everything turned out just fine!
So, I guess this isn't real short, but I will talk in more detail later, I'm off to bed!!
Alex is flying to Salt Lake City in the morning with MSI to work on a previous machine that the company wants to change which is awesome!! He gets to fly on the company CEO's airplane. It makes me a bit nervous but Carl (Alex's supervisor-ish) said that Tom (the CEO) is a great pilot and I have nothing to be worried about :)
Alex also got a bunch of put incharge of most projects that will be leaving the doors at MSI because another employee is in bad health. Very unfortunate about the employee, but very exciting for Alex. A lot of the clients he got are from Europe and there may be some in China and other awesome places that he will get flown to- so things are lookin up for him :)
Alright, for real- good night :)

Sedona/Grand Canyon

So, last Thursday my mom came to town. Picking her up at 2:00 in the afternoon in Phoenix pretty much settled Alex and I's feelings on moving to that area, NOT HAPPENING. It was 113 Degrees!!!!! :\ Big change from what we are used to. We stopped in Anthem on our way back to show mom how nice it is and to get her something to eat. Then we headed back to the cooler mountains :) That night we went to Alex's softball game ( THEY WON!!!! ) First win of the season! whoohoo!
Friday we went down to Sedona. There are tons of little shops there and neat stuff to look at so we did that for a couple hours and then we went to the Chapel of the Holy Cross. It was pretty neat. It looks out over Sedona and it set back in all of this red rock. It set up above this 25 Billion dollar house, which was a bit ridiculous. I think Alex took a picture, so I will have to add that when I add pictures later, but it took a lot of attention away from the chapel...After that we headed back to Flagstaff. It started raining on our way back, but it stopped just intime for us to stop at a neat look-out area. There was a double rainbow which was AWESOME and you could see where one of them ended down in the canyon. Too bad we couldn't go down there to retrieve the pot of gold :( That night we played some Dominos and UNO, which was really fun :)
Saturday was a big day. We got up and got some groceries to make lunch for the Grand Canyon then we headed out. It is only about an hour and a half north of us, to the South Rim. We've heard the North rim is awesome, but it takes about 3 to 4 hours to get there (next time). Anyhow, we walked around most of the south rim and got some neat pictures. It is definitely a big hole, in the middle of nowhere haha. Mom about died a few times when she saw people standing out on the ledge or sitting on rocks that just had a straight drop. One guy was just trying to enjoy his lunch and she started screaming and backing away. Quite commical I must admit :-) Alex and I just shook our heads and laughed. It was definitely a great day though.
We ate at this famous burger place that night "Diablo Burger" it was DELICIOUS!!! Then we walked around downtown for a bit.
Sunday we went to church and then my roommates moved in. They are all REALLY fun and energetic! I think its going to be a great year :) Syd, my roommate is AMAZING! She is super fun and bubbly and outgoing.
Monday morning Mom and I left about 5:15am to get her back to Phoenix for her flight home. It was a pretty drive with the sun rising! But once again...it was 95 degrees at 7:00am. Once again, Not moving down there! haha. Rush hour was not very fun to get through either, but that's to be expected in a big city.
All-in-all the weekend was great, but very busy!!!
This week has been good! Started working more, which is nice! Alex had another game lastnight- they lost, 17 to 1 :/ yikes. But they had fun. Alex got a battle wound. He slid and left a good chunk of hair and skin from his leg on the field. Poor guy!
This weekend there isn't much going on. Probably just hang out with the roomies more and enjoy my last weekend of summer ;) yay!

Finally a post from Alex

Hey everyone!! Sorry it's been so long since I posted anything, I kinda forgot about this thing. Anyway, I know Kate has said that I will be posting about my job for a while so here it is. I'm actually at work right now, which might tell you something about it already. So far, I've just been helping out with troubleshooting machines and learning how they work. I don't have any projects of my own yet, so unless somebody needs help, I just kind of sit around and browse the internet. It's a lot like my last two jobs. :) When I am busy I really like it though. This type of controls programming is very different than anything I've done before, so it's pretty interesting learning how it all works. One of the machines I've been helping with is actually one of the most complex machines they've made. I can't say too much about it without getting in trouble, but it basically uses cameras and motors to position a stent at a certain point on a catheter and then crimps it on. I've mainly been doing hardware troubleshooting (checking wiring and connections). The software portion will come later on. I like that, although we are software engineers, we get to do a lot of hands-on work on these machines. It's mainly because there are so many wiring errors, but it's ok. I'm excited to start doing some programming of my own, and it sounds like it might start soon. My boss, Jake, sounds like he has a lot of ideas for new projects, so I'm hoping I get to work on at least on of them. Overall, I like MSI a lot and I'm excited to actually start doing some real work.
Other than work, I haven't been up to too much. I think Kate has let you know about just everything we've done. We went golfing the Sunday before last, and Kate beat me. I played absolutely horribly and Kate was doing great. We'll go out again soon so I can hopefully get some of my pride back. Kate's mom is coming on Thursday as she said. We're planning on maybe going down to Sedona on Friday afternoon and the Grand Canyon on Saturday. Should be a pretty fun weekend. I'm sure there will be lots of pictures to post. Kate's roommates move in on Sunday. I'm excited to meet them, and happy that Kate will finally have somebody to hang out with while I'm at work during the day. Anyway, life in Flagstaff is great, and you all need to come out and visit. Sooner than later would be a good idea unless u really like snow :)

Sunday, August 14, 2011

Heyyy :)
Another rainy day here. It started raining about Noon while we were in church. When we were driving home the streets were FLOODED and there was not much visibility. Kinda scary at times, but it smells great and once its done, the ground soaks it up pretty fast! haha.
This weekend has been pretty great! Got to see our friends Lauren and Matt from NE yesterday for a few hours which was AmAzInG!!!!!!! Very fun to see them and hear about their summer adventures and such. Definitely sad to see them leave, but they can go tell everyone else how awesome Flagstaff is so that they come visit us! haha....hint hint Lauren. :)
I made some homemade icecream today- I thought it was going to be a flop, but it actually turned out pretty darn good!
This week there isn't much exciting going on until Thursday when my Mom is coming :) Yay!!!
We are going to go up to the Grand Canyon on Saturday and just hang out. Then my roommates move in on Sunday!!! I am VERY excited to meet them!
Other than that, kind of the same ol' same ol'.

Sunset Crater Hike!

Yay for Caves and Lavaflow!

Last Saturday we went to Sunset Crater National Park. These are pictures of lava flow and the volcano that errupted 100s of yrs ago. There is one picture that there is not much shrubbery on the side of the mountain, thats just because the lava burned the soil and nothing has grown back- pretty crazy right?! The rest of it is mostly lava rock that is just left over. It was pretty awesome to see!! It was a short hike, but definitely worth the scenery.
This week has been good!! I've been training all week at Hozhoni which has been pretty fun. A lot of it has been reading and listening and watching videos, but today we learned how to do proper restraints and how to get ourselves out of tough situations which was fun. Definitely the most interactive class of the week! Tomorrow I learn how to distribute meds and write Incident Reports- whooohooo!!! Next week I get to do orientation at one of the houses and then I'm done with training :) yay!
Alex has been good!!! Had another softball game tonight(lost again.) Poor guys :( They were having fun though so that is good! Work has been better this week. Yesterday he was busy all day troubleshooting a machine, today he was doing the same thing and had a meeting for a couple hours, so I think things are getting better :) We went out to eat with a few of his co-workers after the game. We got to hear a lot of crazy stories about MSI Gatherings, so that was fun and definitely something to look forward to.!
A couple of our friends from Omaha are going to be going through Flagstaff on Saturday (Lauren and Matt) YAY!!! That is probably going to be the highlight of my month! I am SOOO excited to see someone from home for a while!!!
Nothing too exciting planned for this weekend other than that though.

Apartment

This is my apartment! It looks a little different now, my room has more stuff in it, I have a shower curtain and the kitchen isn't quite as messy. I took a picture of the living room but there are boxes EVERYWHERE so I will add a picture of that later :) I think my bathroom is my favorite room, because everything looks so good and matches so well in there...but I also love my comforter and sheets and lamp that all match as well :) The apartment is good, I can definitely hear rumblings of trains at night, which is a-okay with me. I grew up about 3 blocks away from train tracks so it feels a little like home. It still smells kind of funny, there are lots of cats surrounding it, so it smells a bit like cat litter, and something else that I cannot figure out- but I'm sure once there are 4 girls living in there, all of our scents will clear that out :)

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

It's been a little while since I have blogged....Sorry about that!
Newest updates this week, I started at Hozhoni on Tuesday. Just doing some basic training with signing a bunch of papers and getting a tour of the Administration building. Yesterday I had First Aid/CPR training. I was not looking forward to that at all because it is SO redundent, but I got to test out of First Aid and CPR was quick! The lady that will do most of my training is AWESOME. She is also incharge of the Thereputic Gardens so when I got done with my CPR test she took me through that and was telling me all about it. It was great :) We were chattin it up and joking around about stuff. Next week I have about 20 hours of training, so that will be fun, hopefully. Some of the sections seem like they are a little common sense, but not everyone is blessed with that, so they have to teach it :) haha.
I MADE A FRIEND :) Alex had his first work Softball game lastnight. One of the wives of his co-worker is about 22 or 23 and she was giving me the run-down of what it is like to be the significant other of a MSI employee. Sounds pretty rough- lol! We had a lot in common though which was awesome!! She is studying Child and Family science and Psychology, which is what I was originally doing, so it was fun to talk to her about that. She told me many many stories about MSI get-togethers, sounds pretty crazy, but fun!!! It was really nice to be able to talk to a female that I will hopefully see on a regular basis. :)
Softball was, fun! haha. Most of the men on the team are 40+ or maybe late 30s. There are only 4 guys that are 20-30 years old. So, they lost, which apparently is nothing new, but they had a really good time.
Alex is hopefully going to blog about MSI today, because he has nothing to do at work- ha.
We are going camping tonight! I am SOO excited. It sounds like an awesome place. There is a lake close and hiking trails and a monument thing. I will take pics and post them later! It will be nice to get away for a bit and relax outside :)
Better get to packing!!

Monsoon Season

There is no doubt that it is Monsoon season here! These are pictures from our lovely afternoon storm this past monday. It is kind of hard to capture exactly how hard the rain and hail was coming down, but I'm sure you can imagine it :) The thunder was outrageous also!!! It was shaking the apartment! I was shaking a bit also ;) The power went out at MSI so Alex got to leave work early which was nice. We ran a bunch of errands that night getting stuff for my apartment. I found a lofted bed with a desk underneath, a 6 piece comforter/sheet set, and a desk chair- all for very good prices! I also got a new laptop because mine has definitely seen better days and I wanted a good one that will last the rest of college and still be descent after that as well, so Happy Birthday to me :) haha.
Tuesday nothing too exciting happened, Alex and I watched The Girl Who Played With Fire. The books are definitely better than the movies, but it is fun to see the scenes played out to see if they are how I pictured them in my head.
Today Alex got invited to play on the MSI Softball team, so after work we went and played catch for a while. There is a really nice, big field down the trail behind the apartment, so that was fun. There were a lot of people there walking dogs and with their kids- pretty fun to see :)
Ha- Michael Buble's "Home" just came on and it definitely describes our feelings sometimes. Flagstaff is a great place and we love it here, but we definitely miss home!!! Once we get more into work and I get into school and meeting people I don't think we will be as home sick- but we do miss you all! - Just incase you wondered :)
Lets see....Tomorrow is Alex's softball game, so that will be fun. Hopefully we can chat it up a bit with his teammates and hang out with them a bit!
Friday is my Birthday :D I love my birthday- probably my favorite day of the year. But, not really sure what we will do yet. Probably go out to eat, and maybe explore downtown nightlife in Flagstaff, or maybe just relax in the hottub (which probably sounds apalling to most of you) but when it gets down to 55-60 degrees here at night, it feels great!!
Saturday I move into my apartment :) YAY!!!!! One of my roommates will be there just to move her stuff in that day, but she is from Prescott so she will go back for the rest of the summer, and the other two are from Cali so they aren't moving here until Aug 21st :( So, its going to be pretty lonely there for a while,) but they have a lot of get-togethers for the residents so I will for sure be able to meet people at those events. It is a little like dorm life, but not on campus and there are definitely families and older people that live there.
I found a family that I want to baby-sit for and it would work perfect for my schedule, and there is also a really good campus job basically being a receptionist, that would work well for my schedule also!
With the Hozhoni Foundation- they are just waiting for my NE Driving Record and then I can start training, which is exciting :)
Well, that's all I have to blab about...

Lazy Day

Today was a pretty relaxed and lazy day.
Neither of us have adjusted to the time difference here in Arizona, so even though we were up until about 1am lastnight, I woke up about 7:15 and layed with my eyes closed till about 7:45, and then I gave up. Alex got up around 8:30ish-which is the latest he has slept since we moved out here. It is kind of nice to be able to wake up early and not be tired during the day and have a long day to accomplish a lot- but it would be nice to sleep in :)
Anyhow...We ran to the grocery store around 10, and then pumped up our tires and went for a bikeride. It was definitely a good workout. It is flat for mot of the trail but there are a few rough inclines. We were gone for about an hour or so and when we got back we both collapsed in the livingroom for a while.
The rest of the day was spent relaxing, watching tv, playing on the computer, and going to Bed Bath & Beyond and Walmart- Super exciting I know :)
We finally have a Sunday where we don't have to be somewhere in the morning so we found a church to try out. Alex's co-worker recomended it, so we will be exploring that tomorrow morning, should be a good time :) I'm excited to see what it is like!
Ohhh from lastnight, 127 hours was a pretty good movie. Kind of weird, but a good story I suppose.
Tooodaloooo for now

Friday, July 22, 2011

Nothing much new to speak of here for the end of the week. Yesterday I went hiking again, a little bit further than Alex and I went last Saturday- This is the really cool Redrock that is further on the trail. Not the greatest picture, but it is pretty awesome!
I got a TB test done- NO Tuberculosis for me :) yay!!! (The test was for my Hozhoni job)
Alex and I watched Hall Pass tonight and are currently watching 127 Hours, which is pretty good so far.
Alex is enjoying work, I told him he needs to blog about it soon- so hopefully he will get on that so you all know what he has been up to.
Alex got our bikes put together so tomorrow we are going to go for a bike ride on one of the trails that is really close.
I think that's about all I have for now- :)

Monday, July 18, 2011

Alex's FIRST DAY OF WORK was today :D YAY!!! He really liked it, I will let him Blog all about it later.
My day was busy with loading/unloading and unpacking and cleaning.
Got the call that all of our stuff that we shipped had arrived so...3 trips to Fastenal, 45 Miles, and 3 hours later...all of our boxes and totes were in Alex's apartment.!! Yay!!!
As I was unpacking, I got a call from the Hozhoni Foundation that I was offered the job. Over the weekend I did some thinking and decided that I did not want the full time job on weekends. Mostly because I'm new to town and want to meet people and I feel like if I was working all weekend, every weekend I wouldn't be able to as much. I talked to the manager about this and he said he completely understood and offered me an Emergency Relief position. This means that I will call in every monday and find out when the open shifts are and if I am available to work these shifts, I can take them. They want me to work at least 1 shift a month-hopefully more- but this will also give me the opportunity to work at the AZ childrens Association if I get an interview/job there, which is really nice!
So, after I went out to Hozhoni in a monsoon of a thunderstorm (no joke...the roads were flooded, I was fishtailing and hydroplaning and I wasn't going over 35mph. RIDIC) BUT after all of that, I made a Target run and then kept unpacking.
Alex got home from his first day of work about 5:15, he skyped with the parentals, and then we had some dinner and then Alex unpacked the last couple boxes of his stuff and I took a nice warm shower :)
Tonight has been pretty nice! It's really cool outside because of the rain and the trees smell AMAZING!!! I love having all the trees outside alex's room because it blows into his windows and smells so fresh- AHHH! :)
Tomorrow I meet with my advisor, get a TB and Drug test for my job [Hope I pass ;) ].
Miss you all!!!!!
<3 Kate

Feel free to post comments about our posts!!! We'd like to hear from you and what you think :)

Sandy's Canyon Hike

Mastered our first AZ hike today!
The trailhead is about 6 miles down the road from Alex's apartment.
It was a 2 mile hike through a small canyon. The mile in was mostly downhill, so the way back was a little rough. We decided we should probably do some flatter trails from now on to get Alex into hiking shape :)
Yesterday I found a cool trail about two blocks from the apartment that we might have to check out soon. It would be especially fun to bike on when we get our bikes put together.
It is another nice day here in Flagstaff. 80 Degrees and Sunny :) no humidity.!!!!
Come to Flagstaff all you Nebraska and Iowa friends and relatives who are suffering through 100+ degree weather and 80% humidity! :-)

More Pictures!

This is our table for now...A printer box

Alex's GREAT view driving home from work...lots of mountains and trees!!

Some bluffs in Colorado that were pretty neat.
And, us on the 4th of July in Colorado Springs.

PICTURES :D

Alex's new Table/Chairs and Bed :) They are both in the house he bought it from so it will look a little different when he gets them-more pics later :)

BEAUTIFUL Flagstaff! On the outskirts coming into town from the north, lots of mountains and trees :) Not typical AZ landscaping.
The view pretty much from far west CO to Flagstaff. There were some pretty neat arches and structures, but mostly desert and Red-rock!
I can't find my camera cord, so when I do, there will be more pictures and we will add some of Alex's apartment. Sorry the pictures are a little out of order...I'll work on that :)

We have internet!

Hey everyone, just thought I'd let you know that we now have internet so we should be posting more frequently. Kate said she was going to post all of our pictures when she gets back from shopping today. I know you all are just dying to see them :) Also, just thought I'd let you know that is a beautiful 75 degrees and sunny today. Be jealous.

It's Been A Busy 4 Days!

Well, we made it to Flagstaff! :)
The trip was great, lots of beautiful scenery and no car troubles until we got into Flagstaff, and that was just a dead battery, so I'm very thankful for that !!
Friday night we unpacked the cars, went out to eat with Brian and Nancy (Mom and Dad for Alex) and then crashed out.
Alex and I were up with the sun at 5:30am due to a window that faces the East, and there was no going back to sleep. By 9am we had purchased a water bottle, ironing board and computer desk for $16.50...Gotta love Garage Sales :) The rest of Saturday was spent running around looking at furniture for Alex's apartment and orienting ourselves with the city. We happened to find a garage sale that was not listed anywhere and found Alex a really nice dining room table and chairs and a big bed for REALLY cheap!!! :) That night we decided to go eat at a local Brewery...decided it was not somewhere to go again :(
Sunday was about the same, a few trips to Target and Walmart, and we got another computer desk for my computer, a tv stand, and couch.
Monday was an hour spent at the DMV getting our new licenses, 2 hours at Wells Fargo setting up bank accounts, Dairy Queen, and MANY phone calls in the afternoon.
This morning I had an interview at the Hozhoni Foundation. It is a group home for Disabled Adults. The position is for full time on weekends from 3:30pm Friday to 3:30pm Sunday, still deciding if not having any weekends to get away is worth it. But I also applied at the Arizona Children's Association which would be helping kids transition from Foster Homes into a more stable environment, which would be more of what I would want to do.
Alex was supposed to start working tomorrow, but the HR guy is on vacation, so he will start Monday, which is a relief. It will give us more of a chance to get things in order at his apartment and get acquainted with the city.
He will have cable and internet in his apartment tomorrow, so when that happens we will upload pictures on here for everyone to see. Right now we have been using his phone or the computers in the commons building.
This is probably the longest post ever, but like I said, it has been a busy 4 days in our new city :)

First update from Flagstaff

I had my interview today and I think it went pretty well. I got a tour of the building and talked to the HR guy about benefits, so I'm thinking that's a good sign. Now I just gotta wait...again.

Flagstaff itself is GREAT. I went to a burger joint called Diablo Burger last night that supposedly was in some travel magazine for being really good, and it was. They use english muffins for buns which is kinda strange, but whatevs. Today after my interview I looked at 4 different apartment complexes, 2 of which don't have any availability. One of the other two I really liked though. I got a pizza from another local place for dinner that was delicious, and went and saw Super 8 after that. Tomorrow is a lot more apartments and then the flight home. I'll add another update then and put up the picures I've taken.

Whooohoooo!
I just found out that I get to move into my apartment on July 30th! That will make 3 different moving excursions in 3 months.

Starting Blog

Hello All!
Just starting a blog so that everyone can read about and see pictures of Alex and I's adventures in Flagstaff. I figured this would be much easier than constant status updates on Facebook and writing individual e-mails every day :)
There might not be many posts for a few weeks, seeing how we don't move out there for 3 weeks and then getting everything set up may take a while. But I will do my best :)
I guess I could start a countdown.
T-10 days until we leave Omaha for North Platte/Denver for Alex's cousins wedding.
T- 20 days until we are in Flagstaff :)
